A new attorney general has been sworn in after a difficult confirmation process. Todd Blanche, formerly a personal lawyer for President Donald Trump, took the oath of office at the White House. The ceremony was conducted by another former Trump attorney, Emil Bove, who is now a federal appeals court judge.

Blanche's confirmation was approved by the Senate by a narrow margin. He has been leading the Justice Department in an acting capacity since April, following the firing of Pam Bondi. Blanche is a former federal prosecutor in New York.
