Emergency road repairs are underway in Hunt County on US Highway 69. The repairs, which began Monday at 8:30 a.m., are taking place in both directions of the highway from Farm-to-Market Road 903 to US Highway 69.

Traffic direction and message boards are in place to help manage the flow of vehicles. The Texas Department of Transportation is advising drivers to avoid the area if possible.

The cause of the damage is attributed to the heat, which lifted asphalt from the highway and stuck it to drivers' tires. The duration of the repairs is currently unclear, with further details available from the Texas Department of Transportation.
