Attempts were made to use an AI model to develop advanced missiles. The efforts were made by users of the Claude chatbot, which is operated by Anthropic. These users were based in territory controlled by Iran-backed Houthi rebels.
The users did not succeed in creating an operational device, but they did conduct a failed test of a guided rocket. After the test failed, they returned to the chatbot to try to determine why it did not work.
Further details about the incident are available from Anthropic, which released a report on the matter. The company blocked the accounts of the users involved after identifying them.
